For the past few weeks I have been occasionally playing Cantonese CNY songs for Little Ray to dance along with because CNY is getting closer! I thought it is also a perfect opportunity for me to start narrowing down my playlist for our little CNY celebration.
Truth be told though, I have been having a really hard time finding lyrics for a Cantonese CNY song to teach Little Ray. A lot of the CNY songs that I grew up with and are popular have lyrics and vocabularies that are quite complex. On another note, it might be time for me to figure that out and perhaps make some lyrics sheets for CNY songs in the future?
Anyhow, here are some music that I quite enjoy singing (or rather humming) with Little Ray. I am going to categorize them in the following ways:
- CNY music targeted at children (rich video images, easy to sing-along with but perhaps not traditional CNY songs)
- Traditional CNY music (not-as-rich or perhaps no images at all, but great for playing as background music and also exposing your kids to more traditional and popular CNY songs; also more complex and difficult sentences/vocabularies used in the lyrics)
Feel free to take your pick and add whichever music you like into your own Youtube playlist to get ready for CNY 🙂
